What a month it’s been
What a month it’s been
The last month and a half has really been a trip. A while back I seemed to be going around in loops of a pretty intense mental roller coaster but is seems that I’ve been able to get off that damn thing and move on for the most part. I was pretty depressed and it was not a good situation at all so I ended up going into a psychiatrist’s office and getting some anti-depressants. Going in was really a good thing to do, I’ve been on the anti-depressants for about a month now and things seem to be much much better.
Considering I started on the negative side of things I was extremely surprised that the last few weeks have been really great. I finally caught up in school from being gone for various reasons (stomach flu, toe surgery, and a few field trips). I missed about 8 days in a 3 week period and it was not good at all. But now that I am caught up I think things should be a lot less stressful.
On top of that, this last weekend I went to an open house at the Art Institutes in minneapolis. I’ve been thinking about going to this school for almost a year now and going to the open house really cleared up some things and helped me decide that I do in fact want to go there. I will be going despite the fact that it is pretty pricey; ~$79,000 for the 4 year bachelors for Interactive Media Design. So I’ll be in debt for quite a while but I think it’ll be worth it to go.
I had originally wanted to go into graphic design with more of a traditional aspect, and maybe get into print design and such. But I finally decided that I would rather continue down the path of web media and other things of the sort. Though I am going to make sure I get to take at least a year of typography classes and at least a semester of print design classes. I’m actually going to a summer workshop thing where I get to take a week of classes there, in june. So hopefully that will further my liking of the school.
If everything continues as I would like it to, I should be starting there in July of 2008. I’m going to be getting out in march next year for early graduation at highschool, then I should have about three months to screw around and enjoy my freedom then it’s back off to school. I have an option with program I can take, I can either go for four years and take the summers off, or I can go for 3 all year round. I think that it may be a little more relaxed to take the summers off but I think that I’ll go ahead and go all year round just so I can get out that year early.
I’ve also been up to a few other things in the last month or so. I actually switched back the design of this blog to my previous one because the brown of the other one was wearing on me, and I also designed a completely new layout and have it coded and just need to wordpressify it. But I’m not quite sure if I’m going to go through with it. I think I’m going to continue to read a few of the design books that I bought in the last month and then release a new design. I’m fairly confident that it will be the best looking design I’ve done so far, so that should be exciting to see. I’m thinking I’ll probably hold it off until the 3rd week in june and release it sometime then as I will be done with school and ready to roll with endless creativity as it wont be being sucked out of me from school.
So thats all for now, hoping to get back into this whole blogging thing but we’ll see what happens. Thanks for stickin’ around :)

Didn’t you tell me awhile ago that you weren’t really digging the whole college thing? Or am I totally wrong?

Whoops, submitted too fast. Anyway it’s good to hear you’re thinking better and the depression is down. Good luck with the rest of this school year (I’ll need that as well with exams :P). I wanna see more cool stuff from you this summer.
peace.
