Familiar Sounds
I’m shocked as to how bands, of which could mean so much to you, go unnoticed for so long. I don’t really know what the deal is with this music, but I can just feel it. It’s as if the music is telling a subliminal story, it’s quite amazing. Of course no one knows what the hell I’m talking about, so I think I’d better elaborate.
While looking forward to next saturday, I decided to preview the other band that will be playing with tool. The band name is Isis. before now, I have never heard of them, but the name seemed strangely familiar. I’m not quite sure, and I can’t put my finger on it, but I feel as if I’ve heard these guys play for years.
It’s really strange, listening to a band for the first time, and going: “I’ve heard this before!” Then going through all your thoughts and memories, to notice that you have never heard of the band, nor have you heard any of their music. It’s really weird.
I have no clue why this band in particular sticks out, but it’s basically screaming at me. Though there are really no words. Isis does some really cool music, with just the instruments, the vocals are very quite when present, and they are almost never going. It’s mainly instrumental.
Now I know it sounds kind of strange/corny, but It’s like I’ve heard these guys play in a past life or something like that. As I said a few lines up, I feel the music, I could swear that I’ve heard the songs before, and the name “Isis” for some reason rings a bell. Not sure why these things seem familiar.
One of the things that I’m really liking is the fact that they don’t really care about stopping to end a song. It just goes on and on till it should be done. They don’t quit in the middle of a song, they play it through. In my opinion, if a band has talent and sounds good, their songs should be a minimum of 7 minutes each.
Anyway, I believe I may have found myself a new favorite band. I’m not sure that’s accurate though. Tool is nearly flawless, so I can’t really just say Isis is better than them. Tool is better in the content area, as far as vocals go, and as far as I’m concerned most of the Isis vocals suck. But I would put Isis as my #3 band, right under Tool, and Alice In Chains. This means that I’ll get to see my top 3 bands live, within the next few months.
