The Law of Attraction, and Me
A year or two ago, I set out for answers. I looked around for answers, by looking around my physical environment, and there’s really nothing there. The only answers were from the christian beliefs, and I really find a lot of the beliefs, bluntly, blindly followed, and unacceptable. I’m not trying to offend anybody by saying that, but I really think that way. So after discovering numerous one sided answers, I turned to other beliefs. I went on to read about a few different religions, how they do things, how they think of life, and really how everything works, in their belief system, and I really found a few things that were satisfying answers.
So in a way I’ve made my own philosophy, built upon bits and pieces of different beliefs, and things of that sort that just make sense to me. As of late, looking at these beliefs, I’ve seen that it’s time to evaluate all of them, and redefine who/what I am, in spiritual terms anyway. So after finding my first round of answers, I’ve spawned even more. A lot of them have lead me on a path to where I am now.
In this last year, I’ve stumbled across some pretty interesting stuff. Some of the most interesting is from Steve Pavlina’s blog. He seems to have a pretty good understanding on what is going on, and how things are working. So I’ve really listened to what he has had to say, and followed along with a few things. A while back there was a post about a movie called The Secret. In this post he mentioned a book called Ask and it is Given.
So about a 3 weeks ago, I ordered this book. The book introduces the Law of Attraction, and to me it really makes sense. From what I’ve read so far, it’s one of the best books I’ve read. The ideas in the book present a whole new way of looking at reality, and if you’re in a set belief system, it can really break it, and make you think about it. Make you think about how things are done, why they are done, and that sort of thing. The Law of Attraction answers a lot of the questions that I was looking for answers to.
The Law of Attraction states that your thoughts make your own reality. So in a way manifesting what you want, from thought, to reality. So basically, you attract things alike to you or your thought processes. For example idea, If I think about being poor, I will be poor. If I think about being rich, I’ll be rich, and so on with other ideas.
Now this sounds pretty crazy, and doesn’t make a lot of sense, in a few ways. First, if this law exists, why doesn’t everyone just think about being rich, they could be!?. Second, how does it logically work. Third, is there any proof of it actually existing. These are some of the questions that have really been bothering me lately. These questions, to me at the moment, are basically the questions of life.
Regarding the first question, it really depends on how you think about consciousness. Does every being on the planet have a consciousness, or is it just you. If it is just you, that would explain why other people don’t execute the right to use the law of attraction to manifest the things they want. But I don’t really know about the answer to this, it’s one of the ones I’m searching for.
With the second question, I have a few ideas on how it works, but I’m not sure. The idea is to think about something, and it will happen. Now I’m not going go think “I can pick up a car” and then be able to do it in a matter of minutes. I think the way to think about it is, if you put enough energy into something, it’ll happen. If I really really want to make a cool website, I’m going to put a shit ton of energy into it, to make it cool.
As for proof, I’ve really got nothing, besides a few experiences. I’ve tried to work with this idea, from the basic thoughts I had of it from a few months back. Basically, think about what you want to manifest, and keep thinking about it. I’ll be damned, it works! A few times there have been some thing that will manifest in a few hours. Other things have taken weeks, and some other stuff has yet to happen.
It’s really fucking cool to watch this stuff come about. A few days ago, I was thinking, wow, I desperately need some money. Within the next 5 hours, I was presented with at least 7 ways to make easy money. I don’t think this is some easy coincidence, because all of these ways to make money were offered to me by other people. I was just sitting here, and BAM, free money. That’s how I look at it any way.
So now I’m starting to look at the law of attraction as something that could really change the way things work for me. I’m just beginning to play with it, and so far, the way it works is just awesome.

I’m no philosopher, but I’d be inclined to call this something more like the law of attention. If you’re thinking really hard about how you want money, then you’re more likely to notice opportunities to make money than if you’re just rolling along with other things on your mind.
Similarly, if you’re really tuned in to the Christian mythology, you’re more likely to attribute things you see to God than to take them at face value as natural phenomena.

Yeah, it really would make more sense to be named ‘The Law of Attention.’ It just makes more sense.

I was inspired after watching The Secret on t.v recently. I couldn’t wait to tell my daughter, work colleagues, friends and other family members of what I had learned. I am looking forward to the changes to our lives that will no doubt be on the horizon as we implement the Secret in full.

I just recently watched “The Secret.” So Ive been testing out the law of attraction and so far its been working great for me. Its been working out great with small things… For example, I live in chicago and its really hard to find parking around my neighborhood and on top of that i come home late from school and other things. 15 out of the 17 times ive tried it, ive been having great luck with it. I have set long term goals and also short term goals for myself. I hope everything falls into place… Wait… I kno that everything will fall into place for me.

If it works so well - why is the law of attraction a secret?
This teaching is Hindu in its origin. Hindus believe in duality (the idea that good and evil are the same) - so no reason to keep this secret (from potential evil doers as it where).
What gives?
Any anthropologist or sociologist can tell you that societies embrace ideas that work and reject those that don’t.

One thing I’ve learned in life and that is happiness is not about doing or having, it’s about being! Either you are happy or you are not. You can seek happiness all day long and will never find it. It’s not something that is waiting in the closet to be found. Your must find that inner peace within you and just be. Only then can you be happy. I’m sure everyone has heard about The Law of Attraction - The Secret by now. One thing I believe is that the law of attraction is most effective when you are creating during the time that you are truely happy; meaning at peace with ones self!

I agree with Mike’s comments on the happiness factor. We all have a list of material objects that we desire, but ultimately what we all yearn for is happiness. By being happy in the moment and sending out that vibration the Law of Attraction will not have a choice but to bring you more things to generate more happiness. Choose to feel good in every moment!

First of all, Congrats! on consciously using the law of attraction. LOA is always present, no matter what, it is a law. It’s up to us to consciously use the law to create the life we want. To respond to previous comments it is called Law of Attraction because that which is like unto itself is drawn. The energy you put out is the energy you attract back to yourself.
Have an amazing day!
