Things are gettin’ busy!

So school is coming fast, and I’ve decided to do a few last minute things with my summer. I’ve also decided to do a few things that will really change this website. Design and code wise anyway. On top of that, I’m actually reading a book! Can you believe it?!??!?

I’ve decided that I’m going to go Django with this site. In an attempt to learn Python, and create my own blogging platform. When I decided this, I really didn’t think about it. I just decided to dive in, and that didn’t go so well. So right now, I’m frantically trying to learn python. Once I get the just of Python, I’ll start putting the new design into code. So I guess we’re stuck on kubrick on Wordpress for a while.

I’ve started learning it a few different ways. Indranil pointed out Byte of Python. This is a free book, aimed at teaching to anyone who can use a text editor. So far it’s pretty easy to read. The best thing about it is that it is a wiki.

Another way that I’m learning it is through an O’Reilly book called Learning Python Now I didn’t pay for this book directly. There’s this really fucking cool thing called Safari, and you pay $20 a month, to have access to a lot of tech related books. So there is stuff on web design topics, programming, and just about anything else computer related. It’s really cool, I’m on a 14 day trial, if I have money at the end, I’ll extend it for a month. $20 is a great price for the amount of material that you have.

On top of python, I just got two new books. One is called Ask and it is Given. Now I really don’t like reading too much. But last night I read about 50 pages of it. So I guess this must be a good book. It’s got some answers for a few questions that I’ve had for a while. So far so good.

On top of that I ordered Bullet Proof Web Design. I’ve also read a bit of that. So far so good. I really like they way it’s written. Different concepts are split into separate chapters, and it’s just easy to read. I also like the way it was printed. It has a magazine feel to it. Everything is color, diagrams, code highlighting, and all. It even has shiny pages!

So with that said, I’m not sure about how much posting I will be doing in the next few days/weeks. It will probably be minimal. I’ll be cooped up on my computer learning python, and reading some books. Hopefully school doesn’t come as quick as I think it will :’(
