Starting a Book

OK, I really have no idea if this is a smart idea, or a fulfilling one at that, but I’m going to start writing e-books and/or a real book. The idea is for me to teach, but as I’m teaching, or writing, I will be researching all of the topics in depth. I think I’m going to start writing tutorials about anything ranging from something linux related to something relating to CSS, on jakedahn.com. A lot of these tutorials are just right for a mini e-book. Or perhaps a full book.

So far what I have planned, is to write for this blog, and with each post that has something to do with a tutorial, I can add to the book. Each tutorial, or idea can be added and expanded as a chapter in the book. Then what I would do is release a few chapters as .pdf for people to read for free, and then release the full book for like $20 or something like that. I know I may be under qulified to write a book in some areas, but if I do the book the way I’m planning it, every topic would be well researched. Each chapter would be well researched.

Either way it sounds like a plan to me! I’ve never actually published anything before, and it seems like an interesting process. Though it may be a lot of work, I think that I’m up to the challenge. If any of you have any insights into writing a book, please, feel free to comment. I’m sure I’m going to need a lot of tips.

Though I doubt many of you have published a book before, if have any tips, or anything that could be helpful, or maybe if you are interested in writing in this book, just let me know. I’d be honored to let anyone write in the book along with me. So if you want to be in the book, or help out in any way, fell free to either comment on this post, or email me at admin@jakedahn.com

This should be fun! Let’s hope it is anyway.

I had a similar idea at one point, look into lulu.com, I’ve had several half-finished books on their servers for some time now.
